Golfing season has begun...

Last Friday was a beautiful day, so Eric and I made our way over to the driving range to get in some practice. It was great. We each got a medium bucket and spent the hour hitting balls. I haven't swung a golf club since July and Eric went to the driving range a few weeks ago and hit some balls with a friend. Needless to say, we're both a little rusty. But it was like we had been playing/practicing all winter long. We each had a chunk here and there...and of course a stinger too. But we had a wonderful afternoon. Later that night we got a phone call from our friend, Brandon to see if we wanted to play golf in the morning. Of course we said yes, we got our practice in earlier.

We got up Saturday morning and made our way over to the golf course. We played nine holes and enjoyed every bit. Eric and I each got our first birdie of the season. We finished our nine holes with Eric shooting a 47 and I shot a 42. While we had our good holes we each had our share of bad holes...finding our ways out of the trees. Somethings never change. I even left the golf course with a wounded leg...I was attacked by a tree branch and have a cut up my shin as evidence of the attack.

We are waiting for the weather to get back to warm and sunny, so we can make our way back out to the golf course. Until then I guess we'll just have to play on the wii or have golf dreams!

Hop goes the bunny...

I got out of school on the Thursday before Easter at noon to kick off Easter weekend and spring break. I quickly left school, got home and hit the road for Fargo. Eric had "Sally" (the jeep) packed and ready to go. Plus he had a delicious Panera lunch and mocha freeze waiting for me when I got home. Yum. We were on the road by one and pulled into Fargo about 9:30 pm, with a wonderful hug and smile waiting for us at the door. I told Grandma Jane that she didn't have to wait up because she gets up so early to go to Moxie, but she insisted. We visited, ate a little pizza and hit the hay.
Grandma Jane got up early the next morning (and for those of you who don't know what early for her is, it's like 2 am...) and she was out the door by 3 or 3:30 am. She came home about 8 am with her arms full of treats. In case you don't know, Grandma is a baker. We had delicious caramel rolls for breakfast. She also brought home chocolate chip cookies, sugar cookies, and my personal favorite...chocolate-peanut butter krispies. Mmm. We spent the day relaxing and chatting. It was so nice to just sit and visit with her. Aunt Nancy had us over for an amazing prime rib dinner. She always prepares such wonderful meals when we come to town (Eric and I definitely got spoiled over the weekend with great food). We got to see my cousins Nick and his wife, Tamra, Sarah and her husband, Tim and their two adorable little ones, Kalle and Tyler, and Nathan. It was a great evening full of great conversation and laughter. It is always so nice getting together with the whole Nerland clan.
On Saturday, Grandma and I went back over to Aunt Nancy's for a baby shower. CONGRATS TAMRA AND NICK! My three aunts and their daughters and children all came to celebrate the soon to be baby Nerland. There were great treats and faces to spend the day with. Later that evening, Aunt Nancy and Nathan made another delicious dinner, seafood something (I can't remember the word), but needless to say it was great. Plus key lime and banana cream pie for dessert. Like I said, we got spoiled big time and we probably each gained five pounds.
On Easter morning, we had a wonderful brunch prepared by Grandma Jane. Aunt Joy, my cousins Shea, Tenille and her husband, Jeremy and their two little ones Kennedy and two week old, Brooks joined us. It was a morning filled with more wonderful conversation and really cute babies!
We decided to leave Fargo by noon so we could be home by nine. Needless to say, we had a wonderful, wonderful weekend away from Milwaukee with the amazing family I have in Fargo. I definitely feel blessed to have them near to us. Thank you for the great trip!
